RESPONSIVE INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE: FAMILY

At House of Wonder Early Learning Center, Zaka Mustfa observed strong family engagement through regular educator-parent communication and inclusive activities like Valentine’s Day and Black History Month. Noticing a parent’s interest in their child’s language development, Zaka created and distributed a language development poster to support learning at home. This family-centred initiative aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and E.L.E.C.T., promoting engagement, responsive relationships, and inclusion. An extension activity provided further resources, reinforcing ongoing collaboration between families and educators.

Outdoor Responsive Inclusive Experience

On a winter morning, toddlers aged 1.5 to 2.5 explored a snowy playground with bikes, buckets, and shovels. Child A and B rode bikes joyfully, while Child C expressed frustration about waiting for a turn. Educator A supported them with calm guidance. Child D engaged in quiet play, identifying shovel sizes with Educator A, showing early problem-solving skills.

The space supported both active and quiet play, allowing children to explore at their own pace. A snow-coloring activity extended the experience, promoting creativity, turn-taking, and language development. The follow-up snowball play encouraged movement, sharing, and fun.

This experience supported engagement, expression, and self-regulation, aligning with How Does Learning Happen? and E.L.E.C.T., recognizing each child as capable and curious.
